Five ways to deal with stress
Written by: Rawan Al-Sebaey
School season has started, and a lot of us are feeling overwhelmed by all of the work overdue from last year, along with the troubles of having online classes.
Dealing with all of this work can lead to feeling stressed out, even in parents, so sometimes you need to take a step back, and deal with those feelings of stress.
Read below to find out about ways to deal with stress.
1. Avoid caffeine
Caffeine can make you feel jittery, and could lead to more stress.
Swap coffee for herbal tea, as it contains lower levels of caffeine, or avoid caffeine altogether, and try drinking more water instead.
Water will keep you hydrated, and being hydrated will help you feel more focused.
2. Sleep more
Sometimes the reason you’re feeling so stressed, is simply lack of sleep.
Lack of sleep can lead to a lot of health problems, mentally and physically.
So, instead of staying up to do schoolwork, try sleeping early and waking up early in the morning to complete all of the overdue work.
3. Change of scenery
It’s good to go out, and have fun every once in a while, for a change of scenery, instead of saying at home and being reminded of all the stress inducers.
These days it’s hard to go out, due to the pandemic, but going to a park, or even going for a jog, where you won’t be exposed to direct contact with people, are great ideas for going out without being afraid of catching something.
4. Rant to someone
Everyone deals with stress at some point in their life, maybe they deal with it every day, or maybe they do every once in a while.
Ranting to others about your stressful state of mind, or opening up to someone is a great way to deal with stress, as everyone can relate with you, therefore you will know that you can get over this.
5. Stress-relievers
Sometimes, simple actions can relieve a bit of your stress.
Maybe, it could be something like taking a long bath, or lighting up a few candles, or even drinking a cup of herbal tea.
Doing something out of the ordinary makes your mind excited, and can make you forget all about the reason that caused you stress.
You don’t have to go overboard, just do something that you are comfortable with, and that you know will make you happy, this can train your mind to be happy whenever you do it again.
